Background on Lionstone Investments

Lionstone is a privately owned real estate investment firm that specializes in conceptualizing, researching, and executing national investment strategies on behalf of institutional investors and high net worth individuals. Lionstone bases its investment strategies on proprietary data, research and ideas centered on the ownership of real estate that serves the most productive segments of the US economy.

Accounting Interns experience many aspects of day-to-day accounting and reporting at the corporate and fund level while providing support to the controllers and senior management within the accounting department. Participants will assist in performing a variety of regular monthly duties as well as ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities include

  • Create journal and cash entries
  • Maintain fixed asset records
  • Perform various treasury functions, including processing wire transactions, monitoring and reporting daily cash activity, and maintaining corporate accounts receivable
  • Assist with periodic balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Review of monthly property management reports
  • Prepare and record capital calls and distributions
  • Assist with quarter-end close activities
  • Assist with quarterly financial analysis and investor reporting
  • Prepare external audit support
  • Perform debt covenant compliance and reporting


  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
  • Real estate experience is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with MRI and Dynamics is a plus
